SUMMARY
Virtual reality – an electronics product that has been hyped for decades – had at last arrived for consoles in 2016. A year later, however, skepticism over the amount of quality games set in amongst PlayStation gamers, making PlayStation’s goal to maintain market leadership a challenge. PS VR represented a major investment on Sony’s part, so PlayStation needed to build a large enough install base to warrant future VR game and hardware development. PlayStation’s Two Worlds campaign helped maintain category leadership, exceed holiday sales goals, and secure the technology’s future.
