SUMMARY

Shortly after the beginning of Russian invasion, Ukrainian Witness started to fight back digitally. As Russia blocks free press and most social media channels, UW starts adding pictures of devastation on Ukrainian city pages on the Russian Wikipedia – one of a few available platforms. To fight Russian bots deleting these pictures Ukrainian Witness calls for help and collaborates with Wikipedia editors to preserve changes. In 2022, number of editors is 75% higher and Russian views of the biggest Ukrainian city pages on Wiki are 242% higher than in 2021.
