SUMMARY
The U.S. Postal Service had an aggressive goal of increasing expedited package shipping revenue and volume during a holiday retail season weakened by a down economy. It reinvented the holiday gift shipping and returns process by convincing people to make advance ordering of Flat Rate Boxes a top priority, in order to make holiday shipping simpler. In doing so, the Postal Service was able to exceed volume and revenue goals by more than 65% and 120%, respectively, in the condensed holiday timeframe.
