Strongbow, a small hard cider import in the U.S., was in danger of missing out on rapid category growth. A host of new brands backed by major brewers were gobbling up market share. A breakthrough insight, to serve the product over ice, helped us re-frame the targets understanding of how and where to drink hard cider. By highlighting this new serving suggestion through self-deprecating humor, we created a unique position in the marketplace and drove sharp increases in awareness, trial and consideration, resulting in a dramatic increase in market share.
