When a new OREO Cookie flavor launches, there’s a lot of interest. Although millennial shoppers love discovering new things and being “in the know” first, it’s impossible to tell whether a flavor will be a hit. In 2018, risk was heightened when the OREO brand launched three unusual, limited edition flavors and asked shoppers to buy them & all core OREO. Customized programming at Target, Kroger and Albertsons positioned OREO Cookies as a gateway to adventure and sparked an urgency to try with millennials, who were fearful of missing out.
