SUMMARY
Despite the rise of women’s soccer in America, players were still paid 12x less than their male peers.While the issue appeared to be gender discrimination, a closer look revealed it was also economic. As one of only three sponsors of the NWSL, Budweiser set out to close the pay gap by addressing the sponsorship gap. We created placeholder products for the biggest sponsorship categories in sports to show brands what they were missing. As a result, the league announced 6 new sponsors and a salary cap increase of ~20%.
