SUMMARY
The California Healthy Minds, Thriving Kids Project responded to a Covid-accelerated crisis in children’s mental health by creating a 34-video series for over 60,000 CA educators to teach critical mental health skills to over 700,000 kids. It succeeded by leveraging the “True Voices” of California’s youth to achieve 87% engagement ratings versus 57% for “typical” SEL resources. This led to 76% of CA educators exposed to the program intending to use the materials in their classroom and 19% having already done so within three weeks of exposure to the Project.
